Important Information About Sunset Cotta Terracotta
All Sunset Cotta terracotta tiles are handmade, giving each piece its own natural character.
This handcrafted quality is central to the charm of terracotta — the colour shifts, surface variation and
irregularities are not flaws, but an authentic expression of the clay, the firing process and the artisan’s touch.
Natural Colour Variation:
Sunset Cotta terracotta is made from 100% natural clay with no artificial oxides.
Expect variation from batch to batch and even within individual tiles. These tonal differences are
an inherent and highly valued feature of genuine terracotta.
Colour Selection:
Samples provide only a general indication of the overall palette.
If a project requires a specific colour tone, we recommend visiting our warehouse
to hand-select crates that best suit the design.
Surface Characteristics:
Handmade terracotta tiles — including Sunset Cotta — may display chips, lime pops,
hairline cracks and occasional animal prints. These are not defects.
Once installed, grouted and sealed, Sunset Cotta tiles gain a beautifully rich and timeless appearance.
Installation & Wastage:
We recommend allowing an extra 10–15% for cuts and breakages due to the
handmade nature of terracotta.
Sealing:
Proper sealing is essential. Various modern sealers are available, each designed for different looks
and levels of protection. Please ensure the chosen sealer aligns with the project requirements.
